If your looking for a fun summer read for you pre-teen/teen {mine is 10} you should check out the book The Sylvan Horn. The Sylvan Horn, is a 2010 Readers Favorite Gold Medal winner, a 2010 Montaigne Medal Finalist (nominated for most thought provoking book), a 2011 Indie Excellence Awards finalist, a 2011 International Book Awards finalist, a 2011 Eric Hoffer Award finalist. The book placed in the Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Young Adult, Action/Adventure, and Suspense/Mystery categories, and received an Honorable Mention in the New England Book Festival and the London Book Festival.
I think Fantasy/Sci-Fi books are fun for young readers, because it sends them into a "fantasy world"...something unlike they would get in there day to day life. And what pre-teen/teen wouldn't like Action...that's what my boys are all about! Combine those two with Mystery and you have a pre-teen/teen book made in heaven! Nick HATES to read...don't ask my why, he just can't stand to read...but once I got him to read this book he really enjoyed it! He could tell me all about what happened, and would go lay in his bed to read about the magical world with elves, druids, trolls, and dryads......
When dark sorcery threatens the earth, a young elf must find the horn that sang the world into existence.
Excerpt;
"He recalled the stories he heard as a
child that told of terrible powers that once marred the earth, beings of
malice who warred with their ancestors and carved the Runes to weaken
the earth. Some said the Runes were left unfinished and men labored for
years to complete them, and a dire power would be loosed on the world
when their work is done."
