The Mystery of the
Silver Statue is an amazing story for young readers and adults alike!
It includes heroic deeds, the search for buried treasure, and lessons
on overcoming real-life struggles. This is a must read for any
youngster. It's fast-paced, exciting, and its lessons are priceless.
Best friends B.T. and Jimmy are fishing on the bank of a river when
B.T. notices some movement at an old abandoned house. With the help of
some spy knowledge, they embark on a quest to find an old statue from
the revolutionary war. Their journey almost gets one of them captured
by two robbers searching for the statue as well, and forces them to
figure out numerous puzzles. My boys 9 and 5 were on the edges of
their seats, listening to the adventures of these two Vermont boys.
This story is based on a real mystery from Vermont's history and
really brings the reader into the story. It's not easy to write history
and get young readers to enjoy it, the Ray Perkins did a great job of
intertwining the history and creative writing. Excellent for young
readers!! And look for his new book "The Mystery of the Brick Kingdom"
